Since arriving on the afternoon of July 10, 2019, after two days ofinvestigation and interviews in the village, the Xinchen YouthVolunteer Service Team of South China Agricultural Universityinitially learned about the basic situation of the village residentsand their understanding of law-related knowledge. The team memberspromoted the following briefing, and the villagers showed a positiveand enthusiastic attitude towards it. During the visit andinvestigation, the team members adjusted and planned the content ofthe lecture on the specific conditions of the villagers and theproblems reflected.
Through interviews with villagers, the team members learned that the localvillagers are mainly elderly people, and people are generally weak inlegal consciousness. They are not used to solving problems with law,and believe that the law is actually not related to themselves.According to the specific conditions of the villagers, the teammembers determined the three major themes of protecting the rights ofthe elderly, school violence on minors, and inheritance ofinheritance.
At 3:00 pm on July 12, the team members went to the village committee ofShamujia Village in advance to make preparations for the upcominglecture. During the intensive preparation process, we encountered asudden situation: a temporary problem with the equipment. The teammembers were in critical condition, and after patiently debugging,they adjusted the equipment smoothly and laid the foundation for theconvening of the lecture.
At16:30 on July 12, the first publicity meeting of Xinchen Service Teamof South China Agricultural University was held on time at thevillage committee of Shamujia Village. Based on the specific problemsof local villagers and based on the law on the protection of therights of the elderly, this presentation will be based on the actualintegration of the local Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region ’sRegulations on the Protection of the Elderly and propose specificcases such as selling health products and false advertisements toeffectively solve the confusion for the local elderly. To enhancethe elderly ’s self-protection awareness and ability to protecttheir legitimate rights and interests. At the briefing, the lectureremphasized the false propaganda of TV advertisements to the villagersthrough the case of "fake doctor Liu Hongbin", and warnedthe villagers not to be easily deceived. According to the villagers,sometimes when watching TV, they sometimes believe in theadvertisements advertised on TV and buy back some health careproducts. Occasionally someone will come to sell some dailynecessities, and there will be fake and shoddy phenomena. Qingzhiteam members answered these phenomena one by one to help the elderlysolve their doubts and raise their vigilance.
On the second day, the young team members focused their investigation onyoung students, investigating whether there was any phenomenon ofcampus violence in the local school and how the school resolved suchproblems. Everyone prepared in an orderly manner for the final campusviolence presentation, hoping to give more effective suggestions tominors.
On the 14th, the Xinchen Service Team of South China AgriculturalUniversity gave a presentation on the inheritance issues that theelderly generally cared about. At the briefing, the lecturer playedvideo of the case and analyzed the relevant laws and regulations, sothat the elderly can better understand the legal content. At the sametime, they emphasized the maintenance obligations of the caregiver tothe elderly, and carried out popular science promotion on the blindareas related to the elderly. The youth team members also asked theelderly about pensions, understood the local pension paymentsituation, and found that the local pensions were basicallyguaranteed. For the first time, many elderly people learned aboutthese contents officially, and said that they were out of order. Thistime, they will give them a better understanding of the law.
This publicity campaign to the countryside has received enthusiasticresponse, the masses have benefited greatly, basically solved theirconfusion, generally raised the legal consciousness, know how toprotect their rights and interests with legal weapons, and madeimportant contributions to the construction of socialist rule of law.
