Teachers and students of the Institute of Agricultural Historyattended the 2019 Annual Conference of the Chinese Academy of Scienceand Technology History

On October 25-27, 2019, Professor Wang Fuchang, deputy director of theChinese Academy of Agricultural Historical Heritage, led graduatestudents Zhou Zhifang, Wu Wanxia, and Xie Shengfeng to attend the"Chinese Academy of Science and Technology History 2019"Academic Annual Meeting ". The conference was hosted by theChinese Society of History of Science and Technology and undertakenby the Department of History of Science and Technology andArchaeology of the University of Science and Technology of China.More than 500 experts and scholars from universities, scientificresearch institutions and the history of science and technology inthe country participated in the meeting.

This annual academic meeting isdivided into agronomy history, astronomy history, physics history,mathematics history, geoscience history, technology history andtraditional crafts, metal history, science and technology figures,science and technology history teaching, science and technology andsocial development, science and culture, biology 19 sub-venuesincluding history of science, history of minority science andtechnology, history of western science and technology, gender andscientific research, history of medicine, history of modern scienceand technology in China, comprehensive history, science andtechnology archaeology. The teachers and students of our institutegave a report on the branch of the agronomy history on the afternoonof the 26th and the morning of the 27th, of which Professor WangFuchang made a report on "On Ding Ying's OutstandingContribution to the Localization of Western Agronomy", and ZhouZhifang, Wu Wanxia and Xie Shengfeng made "Republic of ChinaReports such as "Southern Realgar Smoke from Guangdong in thePeriod", "Rice Planting and Related Issues in Guangzhou inthe Ming and Qing Dynasties," and "Research on Deer Animalsand Ecological Environment in Guangzhou from the Ming Dynasty to theRepublic of China" have aroused the interest of theparticipating scholars. In addition, Professor Wang Fuchang alsopresided over the report on the first half of the branch of theagronomy history on the morning of the 27th.

During the meeting, the Chinese Society of History of Science and Technologyalso held the tenth member congress and the first meeting of thetenth council, and held general elections. Professor Wang Fuchang waselected as a council member of the 10th Chinese Society of Scienceand Technology History Council.

The Chinese Society of Science and Technology History was established inOctober 1980. It is a national and academic mass organizationvoluntarily organized by science and technology history workers andregistered according to law. It is also a member of the China Scienceand Technology Association. The academic annual conference system ofthe Society was formally established in 2017 and is held once a year.The first two were held at the University of Chinese Academy ofSciences and Tsinghua University. The 2019 Academic Annual Conferenceopens on the morning of October 26 and closes on the afternoon of 27.It lasts for two days. There are not only two conference reports, butalso more than 300 group conference paper reports. The number ofparticipants, special venues and the number of papers are all Morethan in the past, it is the largest academic feast in the history ofscience and technology in China.
