On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China andthe 110th anniversary of the establishment of South ChinaAgricultural University, in order to better inspire the majority ofteachers and students to "not forget their original intentionsand keep in mind the mission", the Party Committee of the Schoolof Humanities and Law organized the , Inherit the Huanong spirit"theme series of activities. On the morning of September 28,2019, Xiong Qiang, Secretary of the First Party Branch of theundergraduates of the Faculty of Law, student party members YangZhengyan, Chen Yulin, Zhang Yiqing, and Liu Yanchi and other comradesvisited our school's agricultural history expert Peng Shi award oldMr. The first generation of Huanong strugglers' insincere teachingshave realized the Huanong spirit of "cultivating virtue,knowledge, truth-seeking and innovation".

At the beginning of the conversation, Peng Lao recalled his bumpyschooling experience in his youth. The misjudgment of the familycomponent did not stop him from studying, and the poor life situationdid not defeat his will to learn. With the support of his loved ones,he successfully completed elementary school and passed HanshanTeachers College with excellent results. Later, he resolutely appliedto South China Normal University, looking forward to serving themotherland with his own excellence and rewarding his loved ones. Itis this experience of studying hard that has laid a solid foundationfor his future development.

Mr.Peng's fate with agricultural history began when he was a librarianof the Huanong Library. Mr. Liang Jiamian, an expert in agriculturalhistory, is a guide to his career. Under difficult conditions, inorder to collect valuable agricultural history books, Peng Lao oftensearched around and ran around day and night. It was this kind ofeffort that made South China Agricultural University one of the “FourResearch Centers” in the history of domestic agriculture. In thespecial period of "Broken the Four Olds", Peng Lao and hiscolleagues used smart and flexible methods to protect a large numberof agricultural history books from being destroyed, leaving valuablespiritual wealth for future generations.

Later, Mr. Peng transferred from the library to the Agricultural ResearchInstitute, specializing in the teaching and research of agriculturalhistory. The working environment is changing, and the jobresponsibilities are changing. The only constant is the spirit ofPeng Lao's hard work. If you accumulate a small stream, Fang Chengwill be as big as the river and sea. One paper, one book, one honourare all witnesses to Mr. Peng's down-to-earth.

As the conversation neared its end, Peng Lao expressed his expectationfor Huanong's bright future and the high expectations of the youngstudents. He encouraged us to study hard, patiently explore, and usetrue talents to pay for the cultivation of the motherland and almamater. The teachers and students attending the meeting expressed deeprespect to the hard work and dedication of the older generation offarmers, including Peng Lao, and promised that they will never forgettheir original intentions, bear in mind their mission, and takepractical actions to take the long march of our generation!
